Job description
Packer -2nd Shift
· Use the correct size and color of carton.
· Put the correct number of bags in the carton in the correct configuration including store repacks.
· Check to be sure that the correct price, date, line and shift are on the bag, readable and in the correct location.
· Use the correct tape length to neatly seal the cartons.
· Be sure that correct date, price, pretzel name, line and shift are being printed on the bags and the labels and that they are readable.
· Regularly and frequently, throughout your shift, check the back seals and the seals at the top and bottom of the bag.
· Use the correct skids- wood or blue plastic- for the order that is being filled.
· Use the correct layout for placing boxes on the skid and stack the cartons neatly.
· Check the quality of the pretzels you are packing regularly throughout your shift
· Turn off any conveyors that are running but not needed in order to save electricity and prevent unnecessary wear and tear.
· Return letters, numbers, and stamps to their proper location in order to prevent damage and loss.
· Return formers to their proper storage place.
· Return unused rolls of film to their proper storage place. Be sure the rolls are covered in order to keep them sanitary and prevent damage.
· Help keep the warehouse orderly. Keep pre-made cartons stacked neatly on skids. Use up cartons that have already been made. Keep cartons up off floor.
· Keep the packing room clean and neat. Follow the cleaning schedule. Do a little each day so that you are not faced with a long list of duties on a chaotic day.
· Help the temps as much as possible. Sometimes your job depends on the temp being there to keep the line running.
· Regularly, throughout the shift, check on the temp to see if they are performing their job correctly.
· Be sure they are packing the cartons correctly and checking seals. Double check their work. Give a hand if they get behind.
· Keep current on the master cleaning schedule.
· Participate in monthly safety committee meetings when requested and attend annual safety training.
· Maintain all appropriate food safety regulations.
· Required to fill out reports, write notes, and make drawings with legible and clear handwriting.
· Fill out all log books and paper work requested by management as necessary.
· Assist in any other way requested by management.
