About the role: We are seeking a Packing Manager to work on the floor and be available to assist the Packing Supervisors and Forepersons in managing the day to day functions of Packing, and in assuring on-time order fulfillment with quality product.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct the activities of both salaried exempt leaders and an hourly work force of 80+ employees and balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results.
- Plans, motivates and holds forepersons and supervisors accountable for delivery of departmental objectives and goals; Continually review their performance requirements and work together to create cost saving measures and/or ideas to improve production and quality.
- Responsible for inventory control, rotation, product loss for both incoming and outgoing products.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure that product is properly selected and that daily activities are planned based on sales information in order to provide excellent customer service and quality.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement methods to improve costs, quality, safety, sanitation, and product shipping.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the packing department's hiring, training, counseling, and promotions to optimize facility productivity.
- Resolve issues team members raise; provide feedback to aid in skill development and confidence; coach team members and take corrective action as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- Direct Reports: Salaried and hourly employees.
- In addition to managing current direct reports; this position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management within that department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required:
Required:
- A minimum of 5 years Supervisory/Managerial experience in a consumer packaged good or agricultural/fresh produce industry.
- Working knowledge of 5S, Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiar with HACCP and GMP requirements pertaining to food processing.
Desired:
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree
