We currently have an opening for a Paint Technician/Supervisor based out of Charlestown, Indiana. This position will report to the Production Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible to initiate continuous improvement activities for cycle time reduction, paint usage reduction, alternative materials and scrap reduction for products assigned. They will also maintain and review paint inspection reports, check sheets and paint process parameters and co-ordinate the necessary improvements to achieve capable paint processes; improve the quality of the end product by developing and implementing error-proofing methods to prevent the manufacture of defects within the paint processes. The successful candidate will Initiate the design, testing and implementation of paint racks for new products using 3D Cad software tools and Co-ordinate the implementation of new paint equipment, upgrades to existing paint equipment such as paint racks, masking fixtures and any paint delivery system within the paint line and its processes. They must also be able to achieve the following: Manage, and maintain systems to measure key indicators of plant performance for Quality, Delivery, and Productivity; Actively participate in advanced product quality planning with regards to manufacturing processes; Initiate corrective and preventive actions for customer and internal paint rejections. Lead the team in mistake proofing of potential paint process concerns; Assist with in-house training programs for paint personnel to learn new production parts and processes; Develop plans/schedules for preventative and predictive maintenance of all paint equipment; Ensure the implementation of new paint processes and follow up until process capability is achieved; Maintain and update work instructions, paint process specifications, process flow charts, process control plans, paint line set-up instructions and process FMEA’s. Develop and review work procedures for all process related functions, i.e. operators, paint operators, painters, paint cell leaders, paint technicians, and maintenance.

The successful candidate must have a Diploma in Engineering or equivalent experience; minimum of 5 years of experience at a Tier One or OEM Automotive Paint Shop and a minimum of 3 years of experience programming Fanuc, Motoman or ABB robots along with an understanding of PLC Programming and experience with 3D Cad Software.

The successful candidate will possess good written and verbal communication skills and must be able to pass color perception tests. Must also have strong problem solving abilities, be a strong and motivational leader, have excellent motor skills and dexterity. Must have an Understanding of Key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures related to job function.

The successful candidate must be dedicated and able to work in an organized and efficient manner, and must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
