Description:

Minimum 3 years of experience as a full-time, full-charge bookkeeper or 2 – 3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping firm servicing multiple clients. The candidate must have a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting principles to effectively assist clients in understanding their financial information.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles
  • High comfort level with technology including apps
  • Work independently with minimal supervision required
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to build good working relationships with clients
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and delegate when necessary
  • Good attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Perform all client accounting functions
  • Categorize bank and credit card transactions
  • Process Vendor Bills
  • Book journal entries
  • Accrue expenses
  • Account for payroll transactions (gross wages, employer payroll taxes, tax liabilities, etc.)
  • Reconcile bank and credit cards to statements
  • Process and organize financial documents
  • Analyze financial statements and prepare adjustments as necessary.
  • Familiarity with processing payroll, reading payroll reports, and the popular small business payroll services – ADP, Paychex, Gusto

Requirements:

  • 3 – 5 years in a CPA firm or outsourced accounting environment.
  • Must live in NJ
  • ProAdvisor Certification a plus (will be required to become certified in QuickBooks Online if employed by the firm)
  • Experience with Hubdoc, Bill.com or other cloud-based software apps that integrate with online accounting platform
  • Prior experience working in a public accounting firm or cloud bookkeeping firm preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and Adobe Acrobat and proven comfort with technolog
