POSITION: PARKING ATTENDANT

DEPARTMENT: PARKING
REPORTS TO: PARKING MANAGER
DIRECTOR OF SECURITY


REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to follow verbal and written communications and; communicate effectively with public and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner. Must be able to explain and enforce operating policies and procedures. Ability to operate cash register, handles money and maintains records, and independently applies and carries out policies and procedures within assigned area of responsibility. Must have the ability to make mathematical computations with accuracy. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays. All duties are performed under the guidance of the Parking Supervisor and Manager.


SUMMARY:

Assists and greet customers and patrons upon entering the lot; collects parking fees and monitors the orderly operation of the lot. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures relating to handling cash. Provides local information about the area, if necessary.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Accepts parking fees and makes necessary change for customer/patrons and issues receipts. Utilizes two-way radio to speak with supervisor and/or security when necessary. Answers any questions a patron may have relating to the local area or information regarding the times of operation of the lot.
  • Completes proper forms, collects fees, issues receipts. Opens and closes desk operations including lights, materials, supplies, and parking receipt records.
  • Ensures that the lot rules, safety standards, and sanitation requirements are followed. Assists in implementation of emergency action plan at the lot. Maintains records of fee collections and submits with cash deposit on a daily basis. Maintains $100.00 bank.
  • Opens and closes Lot. Closes out cash, counts money, completes cash sheets, makes change bag for next shift, and submits money collected and documentation to main office deposit center.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


JOB LOCATION AND EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Duties are performed at the various outside lots or garage. Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Operation of Fee Computer, if working in garage.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
