General Job Description:

Operates equipment to pasteurize, homogenize, test fluid milk and blend, process milk by-products according to Federal/State regulations and company policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

• Test raw milk.
• Input, access and retrieve information using a computer for the purpose of operating within the production schedule, standardizing to State and Federal requirements and maintaining the proper blend of ingredients.
• Operates and monitors equipment that pasteurizes, homogenizes, blends, processes and tests fluid milk and milk byproducts.
• Maintain a safe work environment.

Mandatory Job Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:

• Must be able to stand from 4 to 5 hours.
• Must be able to input, access and retrieve data from computer.
• Must possess basic mathematic skills.
• Must possess basic reading skills.
• Must possess the following speech, vision and auditory characteristics:
• A sense of taste is required to test dairy product.
• Speech level is required to be able to convey information in an environment in which the noise level reaches high levels.
• Vision is required to monitor the operation of machinery, construction of packaging, to be aware of the hazards of operating machinery and absorb technical data concerning hazardous materials. Must be able to observe color variations for a visual test of butter fat content in dairy products.
• Hearing, while wearing hearing protection, is required to be made aware of hazardous conditions concerning the operation of machinery.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds above the shoulders and fulfill the other physical requirements.
• Must be able to work a shift of 8 or 10 consecutive hours (with 1/2 hour lunch break) and overtime, as demanded by the business cycle and mechanical condition of equipment.
• Must be able to contribute to a safe work environment.
