Patient Access Coordinator - Per Diem

Salary range: $18.00 - $27.00 (DOE)


Highlands Behavioral Health System is an 86 bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Littleton, CO. Highlands features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. www.highlandsbhs.com


POSITION SUMMARY


The Patient Access Coordinator (PAC) is primarily responsible for answering and appropriately managing incoming telephone calls; scheduling patient assessments/appointments; creating and updating patient inquiry call entries within MS4 call system (including verification of benefits); setting expectations for patients regarding their services, reviewing transfer requests, and responding to customers' information needs. Additionally, the PAC is responsible for performing various administrative and clerical duties required to support these functions and, on an as-needed basis, may be required to perform other tasks.


Qualifications


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


At least two years working experience in a hospital or doctor's office assisting patients duting admissions process or patient appointments. Strong background in customer service. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or Related field preferred. Other combinations of experience and education may be considered.


JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Responds to telephone and/or walk-in requests for psychiatric assistance.
  • Assesses new transfer requests to determine if appropriate for admission.
  • Manages all incoming referrals to ensure they are being reviewed and assessed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates between the units and intake on all necessary paperwork and information.
  • Maintains daily log of all incoming and pending Intake calls and Assessments.
  • Maintains a good working relationship and ongoing communication with referral sources.
  • Completes the vitals, paperwork, labels, pictures, and admission forms of patients.
  • Collaborates with hospital personnel and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Assists with getting clients onto the units and transitioned from intake to the unit.
  • Promotes a positive working environment and guest relations.
  • Promotes safety by attending mandatory in-services and complies with all safety measures initiated by the facility
