Job description
A Personal CareAssistant is an individual who provides support services to assist clients with personal, physical mobility and therapeutic care needs, as established by arehabilitation health practitioner, social worker or other health careprofessional. The Personal Care Assistant may work in a variety of settings, toinclude home or schools.
High needs for caregivers on the weekends. Get paid every Friday. Service Anchorage, Eagle River, Palmer/Wasilla areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides servicesto persons who need help with day-to-day activities
- Demonstratescompetence in performing the necessary skills and perform those skills on theplan of care
- Provides healthcare tasks, personal hygiene services, and other related support servicesessential to the client’s health
- Assists with transfers and ambulation
- Aids teacher inhelping student learn and provides feedback to student and supervisors/teachers(if applicable)
- Performs incidentalhousehold services that are an integral part of a personal care plan (ifapplicable)
- In school setting,accompanies student on bus to and from school (if applicable)
- Providescompanionship by reading, listening and talking with client
- May assist insupervision of students during recess and lunch periods and accompany studenton community experiences
- Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements
- Assists client inthe development of independent skills through self-care activities such astoileting, clothing routines and personal hygiene
- Implements behaviormanagement techniques in accordance with the directions given by thesupervisor/healthcare practitioner; including reinforcing appropriate behaviorsin accordance with plans and discouraging negative behavior, managing time out,or other techniques as directed
- Appropriatelyreports changes in client status or as directed by care plan
- Maintainsconfidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families andemployees
- Adheres to theHealth Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy policiesand procedures
- Performs otherduties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- One (1) yearrelevant experience preferred
- Current BLS Card
- Current PPD orChest X-Ray
- Knowledge of child growth and development
- Ability tocoordinate and facilitate services between the home, school, local health agency, and other communityresources
- Ability toeffectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
- Computerproficiency required
- Must be at least 18years of age
