Peer Support Specialist
Hyannis MA.
The Recovery Resource Specialist is responsible for daily operations of an active recovery support center that develops and maintains peer-to-peer support services and activities provided for and by people in recovery from substance use. The recovery support center is encompass in peer governance and uses the peer participatory process to create a safe, inclusive environment to promote ongoing growth and long-term recovery.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for daily operations and administrative duties
- Manages peer supports and peer activities, including Recovery groups and Telephone Support
- Responsible for data collection and submission of reports
- Assists with budget development and fiscal management
- Assists with grant writing as needed
- Acts as the liaison to the Advisory Board
- Educating the community on the impact of stigma of addiction
- Networking with the MA Recovery Support Centers and MOAR (MA Organization for Addiction Recovery)
Qualifications:
- Embrace and work in a culturally and linguistically diverse recovery community
- Support all paths to recovery and have a minimum of 2 years of solid recovery or have lived experience as an individual affected by substance abuse in the family
- Have a comprehensive understanding of substance addiction and recovery
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Have a valid driver’s license and own a vehicle
- Have strong interpersonal boundaries
- Have better than average experience using a computer and required software
- Have experience and knowledge of Cape Cod and The Islands community, its organizations and service providers
Travel Requirements: Statewide travel is required for meetings, trainings and conferences. Occasionally there may be trips to other New England states for annual conferences or trainings.
