A Personal Care Attendant provides direct personal care for our Fleischman residents. Responsible for guiding or assisting residents with activities of Life that they are unable to perform without guidance. Med Passing Experience Helpful.

• Participate in shift reports
• Assist with baths, full baths in and out of the tub ( wash back and feet only)
• Apply lotions/powders
• Assist with dressing/undressing, buttoning of clothing, tying shoes, combing hair, brushing teeth, putting in dentures and hearing aides, putting on jewelry etc. and any other ADL’s as needed
• Shave male residents
• Make beds
• Help prepare rooms for admission
• Welcome new residents-orient to room, call lights, etc.
• Wash and dry resident’s laundry
• Administer treatments to residents, i.e. lotions, nasal sprays, eye drops, inhalers etc.
• Answer call light promptly
• Assist with incontinence care – clothing, linen changes etc. Clean any accidents
• Assist during meal service
• Check on residents who require closer monitoring several times a shift as direct by Nurse/Administrator
• Assist in all emergencies
• Provide cueing to residents as needed
• Be available to escort residents to and from an activity
• Deliver/pick up room trays at meals. Complete room tray slips
• Report any incidents or accidents to supervisor and complete Incident & Accident form.
• Make wake up calls
• Assist any resident who becomes ill or needs assistance to room, assistance with lost items, i.e. misplaced walkers, glasses, hearing aides etc.
• Observe resident changes: mental status, mobility, falls, skin, incontinence, eating habits, complaints of pain or illness, and report to supervisor immediately
• Document each shift on:
  • Communication log – as needed (problems, concerns, general info)
  • Resident care sheets – laundry, personal care, incontinence care
  • Assignment sheet – sign in and out for breaks/lunch
  • Meal attendance count/total
  • Treatment sheets
• Assist/lead activities with guidance from Activities Coordinator
• Respect the feelings, attitudes, sensibilities and comfort of residents at all times
• Maintain satisfactory relationships with all staff
• Support facility procedures and policies
• Treat information about residents, families and employees as confidential
• Maintain knowledge of current PCA responsibilities
• Participate in staff development programs, in-services, etc.
• Be thoughtful and friendly to residents and supportive to families – always
• Bring all concerns to supervision or Administrator, as needed and timely
• Comply with company policies and procedures and local, state and federal regulations
• Maintain an appropriate, neat and orderly appearance according to JSL standards. Must wear vest and name badge while working at all times
• Maintain a satisfactory attendance record
• Other duties as assigned
