PLEASE NOTE: Pet sitting position starts slow! We pay per service rather than per hour. You will receive a few hours of training a day for two weeks, then take a few visits a day between the hours of 10am-2pm. Then we will work you up to taking more visits a day over time. We are a small business that grows slowly but steadily.

It is important to establish trust, dedication and a fun view of our company with our clients. Our favorite thing about pet sitting is updating our clients. We love sending unique photos, videos and leaving fun gifts from their pets when they return home. We also use an app called Time to Pet to schedule, process payroll, and as a form of updating! The difference we make in the pet sitting business is having the best friendship with clients and their pets by making great memories! We love what we do!

Job Duties

Pet sitters are obligated to visit client’s homes, feeding and walking pets during scheduled times. It is extremely important to provide outstanding care and compassion and spend the whole scheduled time at the designated clients house. Each employee must use the required apps to update clients, keep track of their miles driven, check schedule changes and respond to messages. Our main goal at Fur Ball is to exorcise, feed and interact with the pets; we do not accept additional tasks such as grooming, cleaning, training or running pet related errands.

Skills and Abilities

Our employees exhibit common sense, problem solving, be able to follow directions, have confidence in emergency situations, customer service skills when meeting clients, an ability to empathize with the pet owners, high attention to detail and patience when dealing with pets as well as clients. In addition, pet sitters must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, such as walking and lifting.

Additional Qualifications

Any degree’s or certifications related to pet care with a college or university are highly desirable. Training with other companies, organizations or volunteer groups are also recommended. Personal or professional experience with disabled or special needs pets would also be desirable.

Requirements

All hired pet sitters are required to complete training with a manager, complete two weeks of shadowing fellow employees, complete fur ball certification standards and gain proficiency in pet First Aid. Employees will be compensated for their time in order to complete these requirements.

Payment

Employees will be paid biweekly with direct deposit. Payroll is staggered, meaning pay day comes one week after your first two work weeks. Employees are paid per service completed: $12 per 30 minute visit, $14 per 45 minute visit, $16 per 60 minute visit, $20 per park visit. Additional payments include a $5 bonus each visit during a holiday, $10 per hour you volunteer at an approved organization, $10 per consultation, $10 per transportation you provide (to pet appointment or to/from play date), $16 per hour working in the office or at an event, and bonus pay when an employee goes above and beyond. We also reimburse mileage each payroll (30¢ per mile depending on make and model of your vehicle), and include your tips in your paystub. After three months of employment you will be eligible for an increase of payment for some of our most used services.

We service Ann Arbor, Saline, Ypsilanti, Belleville, Superior Township, Canton and some surrounding areas.
