We are looking for you to join our team as an Optical Engineer based out of Rolling Meadows, IL. As an Optical Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation.
What You’ll get to Do:
Optical Engineer:
Conducts research into phases of atomic and molecular, nuclear, solid state, thermal, and other physical phenomena. Develops theories and laws based on observed results of experiments and predicts phenomena based on theoretical considerations in areas of application such as acoustics, electricity and magnetism, electronics, heat, light, mechanics, radiation, optics, and lasers.
The qualified candidate will assist project lead engineers with conducting lab and field demonstrations of new prototype optical systems. Lab responsibilities will include design, setup, and execution of prototype tests, writing reports, safety plans, test procedures, and briefing results. Some travel and participation in field tests will be required. Employee must have potential of holding a security clearance up to TOP SECRET/SCI. US citizenship required. Up to 20 percent travel will be required, less than 50 percent work from home can be expected.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Physics, Optics, Engineering, or a related discipline, as well as 2+ years of related experience.
Experience with one or more of the following: Matlab, LABView, Python, C++, Iris Cortex
US Citizenship
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Exposure to a lab environment
Position will be contingent on receiving a SECRET security clearance.
Preferred qualifications:
Prior lab experience to include test procedure writing, test execution, and documentation.
Advanced degree in an Engineering or related discipline
Experience with modeling and simulation, Model-based Systems Engineering, or both
SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance
