Planner - Remote Michigan- On Call
The SAFEbuilt Planning Division Team is a planning professional with demonstrated experience as a consultant or municipal planner. We have an immediate opening for a position involving client contact, project management, on-going planning and zoning assistance, and development review.
This position will act in the capacity of Planner for a municipal client in a remote service role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as project manager/lead planner for two main municipal clients and support planning services in other jurisdictions.
- Advises various councils, boards, commissions and elected officials in planning-related issues
- Assigns work to professional staff and ensures appropriate training is provided
- Act as project manager for specific development review projects, coordinating both internal and external divisions and referral agencies.
- Attend commission and council meetings on a limited basis but as required
- Work as part of a consulting team on amendments to zoning ordinances, special zoning topics and related projects.
- Assist with marketing and business development efforts within the region
- Contribute to the growth and reputation of the Firm through speaking at conferences, publishing professional articles or other similar activities
- Provide mentorship to junior staff and planners
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors’ or Master’s degree in planning or related field
- AICP certification highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE: 5+ years’ experience in the municipal planning field. Consulting experience a plus.
