Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, criminal justice, information technology, two years of experience in a computing operating systems environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must pass Police Department background investigation.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer experience in a PC support environment, experience with relevant software, and criminal justice related statistics.
- Relevant computer software and criminal justice systems (including but not limited to MS Office, Windows Server, Microsoft SQL, Pelco Surveillance equipment and software, Siemens access control/alarm equipment and software).
- Statistical methods, records management systems, computer hardware and software operating systems (including Microsoft Office applications, Crystal Reports, Microsoft SQL, etc.), network principles and effective troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarization in law enforcement and police department operations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Police Department officials, other employees and the public.
- Some management or supervisory experience.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
