What We Are Looking For
The Precision Inspector evaluates drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions; decides on the setup and conduct of metrology procedures; performs inspections, calibrations, and gage R&R studies on a broad range of parts to exacting tolerances; and analyzes and reports measurement results and process performance.
What You Will Do
- Perform precision inspections on products, tooling, components using basic inspection equipment and intermediate inspection equipment, as well as advanced inspection equipment with guidance
- Record data on time, labor, dimensions, and other parameters applied to inspection jobs, projects, WASes, etc.
- Manage equipment calibration database, including calibration dates, methods, and capabilities
- Maintain controlled documents for production parts
- Develop simple through moderately complex semi-automatic and automatic measurement programs
- Organize process capability data and prepare control charts, prepare distribution curves, and interpret results
- With guidance, plan measurement system studies, organize data, calculate and interpret results
- Perform verification and calibration of measurement equipment
- Prepare and review reports on the results of inspection and analyses, including factual data and proper interpretations
What You Will Bring
- Required Degree: Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent
- Preferred Degree: Some geometry and trigonometry college courses preferred
- Certificate(s): ASQ CMI (Historic)/CQI required within 18 months of hire
- Required: 3-5 years experience with inspection, operation, and programming, specialized inspection equipment, including CMMs and Vision Measurement Systems
- Applied experience creating inspection programs for CMMs, including setup, calibration, software programming, and other required tasks
- Ability to interpret features, dimensions, tolerances, and notes, and GD&T callouts, represented on Engineering drawings (Blueprint and document reading)
- Ability to utilize basic tools with high level of skill and efficiency with calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.
- Ability to utilize intermediate tools with an intermediate to advanced level of skill and efficiency with video measurement system, laser micrometer, electronic height gage
- Ability to utilize advanced tools with an intermediate to advanced level of skill and efficiency with computer-controlled coordinate measurement system and any other state-of-the-art measurement system acquired
