Job Description:

This position is responsible for designing manufacturing production lines and processes as well as improving process engineering efforts for customer products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement process improvement/productivity projects.
  • Perform line balances, line capacity analysis (short and long term), time studies, and labor costing for new and existing production lines.
  • Draft and support facility layout and production improvement projects.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction from pilot run till hand over to production. Must take the ownership to make a smooth transition from pilot build to mass production by ensuring closure of open items in DFM and NPI checklist.
  • Design and implement new production lines, including assembly process and equipment layout.
  • Work with vendors to source production equipment per designs.
  • Develop and maintain detailed work instructions/SOP (standard operation procedures), process and material flow charts, and other process documents.
  • Maintenance of BOM structure and implement ECO (engineering change orders) and deviations.
  • Provide job and equipment training to trainers and other production personnel.
  • Work within Engineering team and with other functional teams to reduce cycle-time, cost down activity and resolve manufacturing issues in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate with customer to investigate and resolve engineering issues.
  • Coordinate with global team on site improvement/automation projects.
  • Implement Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) and update the checklist when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Lean manufacturing and KanBan knowledge required
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing BOM (bill of material) structure required
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
  • AutoCAD, Visio, SAP, and Six Sigma knowledge is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, and prioritization skills
  • Proven ability to function independently and multi-task
  • Must have ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Contract manufacturing experience is a plus.
