Job description
PURPOSE:
This position is accountable for the proposals, design, or development of the forging, tools, and/or the manufacturing processes required to satisfy the customers’ specifications within the manufacturing capabilities of the company. The assurance of timely, trouble-free accurate estimates, design and production runs within the parameters of the estimate, or improving on those parameters and for any special engineering projects they might be assigned to are some additional responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Cost effective, timely, creative, properly designed and developed forgings, tools, and forging processes to provide accurate estimates and uninterrupted, trouble-free production runs and shipment of finished forgings. Minimization of raw material costs is also critical.
· Timely, knowledge assistance to sales, quality control and others to solve customer forging design and specifications problems and/or complaints which result in orders and/or satisfied customers.
· Clear, concise, well-developed reports and letters to assure good communications to Management, Sales, Customers and throughout the manufacturing areas.
· Timely, effective, remedial actions to salvage damaged forgings and solve forging problems.
· Accurate, rapid reports of problems to your Manager to keep him informed of problems.
· Cost reduction; Creative, timely ideas to improve on production processes and equipment.
· Continued self-development in the area of forging designs and development.
· Direct, train and motivate new or less experienced Development Engineers.
· Higher level interactions with customer on various engineering issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Engineering degree required, BS Mechanical Engineering preferred.
· Forging experience preferred
· 3D Modeling, CATIA V5 Preferred.
· Classical blueprint interpretation / GD&T knowledge.
· Statistical Analysis. (Six Sigma, Minitab, Quantum SPC).
· Fundamental knowledge of hydraulic forging presses and press Data Acquisition Systems.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Statistical Analysis. (Six Sigma, SPC)
· CAD.
· Knowledge of data acquisition systems.
· NCR/PCRB.
· Working knowledge of White and Black Book procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
