Job Description
Washington National Opera is hiring Production Office Assistants (POAs) to assist in various tasks for the 2022-2023 season, beginning in October 2022. POAs assist the Production Office with various tasks related to the 22-23 season at both the WNO Studio in Takoma (3 blocks from Takoma metro) and/or at the Kennedy Center.
Production Office Assistants are assigned shifts to monitor the front desk at the WNO Studio in Takoma, serve as Child Minders for rehearsals and performance at the WNO Studio or at the Kennedy Center, assist with WNO Auditions, host rentals at the WNO Studio and other duties determined by the needs of the Production Office.
This is a part-time position, scheduled on a monthly basis based on the needs of the Production Office. This is a great position for those with flexible, changing schedules. Background check is required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Staffing the front desk of the rehearsal studio in Takoma
- Checking in guests and seasonal staff for rehearsals
- Monitoring front door and elevator
- Signing for mail and package delivery
- Assisting with Covid testing on testing days
Serve as Child Minder
- Supervise children in productions, both in rehearsals and performances
- Coordinate with Stage Management team and WNO Staff to facilitate the needs for the children in performance
- Communicate with parents/ caregivers
Assist with auditions
- Set up and processing
- Monitoring flow of auditions in/out of room
- General clerical assistance
Serve as Venue Host for Rentals to WNO Studio
- Monitoring front door and elevator
- Assist Rental groups with needs of the building, following the contract details
- Communicate with WNO Production staff with questions and issues that arise during the rental period
Key Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Work experience and interest/knowledge performing arts encouraged
- Work experience with children encouraged for child minding assignments
- Communicate professionally with patrons, artists, and staff
- Interest in positive interpersonal interaction, openness to diverse work situations, and sense of humor strongly encouraged
