Job description
The Boy Scouts of America, Last Frontier Council seeks After School Program Aides to lead Cub Scout Packs at schools in various neighborhoods around the Oklahoma City Metro for the 2022-2023 school year. These critical programs offer hundreds of students easy and affordable access to Scouting, where they'll participate in hands-on activities once per week applying the principles of the Scout Oath and Law.
What you'll do:
Program Aides deliver the Cub Scout program to children ages 6-11 at each elementary school on a weekly basis. Each session begins with learning and reciting the Scout Oath and Law, followed by fun games, activities, crafts, and more. You'll help the students work through their respective grade level's curriculum, working towards earning their rank badge by the end of the year. Training is provided; Scouting knowledge and experience is preferred, but not required (we can teach you the program). Current and former camp counselors, teachers, and those with experience and/or a passion for serving youth and leading youth programs have success in this role. Several positions are available, with additional opportunities for bilingual candidates.
We currently have openings for after school multiple days a week and during the school day with potential to have 10+ hours a week.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 21 years of age
-Willingness to become a registered adult volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and consenting to the membership standards and policies of the organization
-Completion of a background check through the BSA's official provider
-Completion of the organization's Youth Protection Training
-Access to reliable transportation to travel to/from work site(s)
-Willingness to learn or refine knowledge of the Cub Scout program
-A can-do attitude and flexibility
Compensation:
-Program Aides are paid $15/hour, with two hours per program, per week (one hour of preparation time, and one hour of instructional time). Program Aides may work up to 4 schools per week, for a total maximum of 8 paid hours per week. This is a part-time role. Program Aides who demonstrate a high aptitude may be considered for future full-time openings with the Last Frontier Council.
