Job description

Publicolor is a youth development organization that uses project-based learning models to address under-education and learning loss. For 27 years, Publicolor has been committed to engaging high-risk, low-income students in their education. Honored twice by the White House by Clinton and Obama, Publicolor’s goal is to ensure educational equity and economic equality for all students. Our gateway program is Paint Club, where students learn the commercial skill of painting as they paint carefully chosen colors to transform a school’s cold, institutional-looking environment into a warm and welcoming space for learning. Color has enormous power, and research supports that changing environments changes attitudes and behavior.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Implementing the Paint Club curriculum and reinforcing painting techniques;
  • Managing a weekly budget and submission of expense reports;
  • Tracking scope of work project, ensuring the project timeline is on schedule;
  • Coordinating events such as Program Orientation, Color Vote, Family Painting Day, and Awards Ceremony;
  • Recruitment of students within the school, promotion of program; cultivating relationships with students, school leadership, and key stakeholders;
  • Collecting program data in compliance with grant and Department of Education requirements and guidelines, ensuring all pertinent documents are submitted in a timely manner;
  • Ensuring the Paint Club’s transformation of school spaces is completed within the project timeline and the quality of work is up to Publicolor’s standard of excellence;
  • Working directly with students to help them achieve the project goals and their individual learning.
