Job description
The Hannah Arendt Center at Bard College seeks a full-time Program Manager for its programming with the Open Society University Network (OSUN). This is a full-time, year-round, in-person position on Bard’s campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. The successful candidate will excel at working in a global community environment with travel opportunities.
The Program Manager will work closely with the academic director in helping to develop OSUN’s first PhD program. In collaboration with the Academic Director and Executive Director, the Program Manager ensures smooth operation of HAHN’s programs and events, maintenance of its master grant, processing vendor payments, and completing required program reports.

The Hannah Arendt Humanities Network (HAHN) was established in 2020 by The Hannah Arendt Center in order to nurture a culture that values and strengthens the humanities as the foundation of an open society. The Network supports the integration and accessibility of humanities studies across more than 40 OSUN institutions, both in the Global North and South. Our partners include University of the Andes in Colombia, The University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, Brac University in Bangladesh, Central European University in Vienna, and Al Quds University Bard, Palestine, among many others. Programs and sub-grants offered by HAHN include text seminars, writing retreats, forums, and network teaching opportunities.
Essential Duties
- Oversee administrative support for the program
- Maintain financial records including Bard’s database systems and data entry
- Maintain all narrative reports for HAHN’s programs
- Oversee all sub-grants awarded to HAHN’s partner institutions
- Work with communications coordinator to promote and highlight programs
- Manage events that are hosted by HAHN
- Work with travel agencies to book flights for program participants
- Provide support for special initiatives as the program grows
Qualifications
- Interest in the humanities and international programming
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
- Written and oral communication skills
- Ability to self-manage
- Ability to travel to program locations (fully funded)
- Experience working collaboratively on projects
- Previous work experience coordinating programs
- Previous experience in office and logistics management
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively with international partners
- Comfort using word processing and spreadsheet software
- Hands-on experience in budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in the humanities or related field
- Experience using databases a plus
- Familiarity with academic institutions a plus
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and work in standard office environment
- Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds
- Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed
