SOLON Corporation, a leader in the design, installation, and commissioning of commercial, industrial, community and small utility scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the Southwest US, is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support the company’s design and construction efforts. This position will be based out of SOLON’s Tucson office, with most of the time spent on current and future jobsites.
Job Responsibilities:
- Act as an informed resource for construction teams.
- Maintain current knowledge of project requirements, and applicable building codes.
- Supports all aspects of construction. To include mobilization, scheduling, communication, reporting project changes, logistics, and leading resolution of construction and design document issues.
- Acts as liaison between engineering team, construction, and subcontractors in the submission and resolution of RFI’s.
- Assists with pre-construction site visits, and service entrance investigations. To include filling out forms, coordination of schedules, and drafting agendas.
- Responsible for coordinating engineering tasks as required. To include survey work, geotechnical boring, blue stake tickets, and private locating.
- Travels to various project sites, including potential extended travel as required by the project.
- Assists in maintaining current construction drawings and compiling as-builts upon project completion.
- Assists with project close-out tasks, including but not limited to punch walks, site walks, and inspection walks with contractors, AHJ, utilities, clients, and client representatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a construction Field Engineer or Project Engineer.
- Previous experience in photovoltaic and battery storage construction projects strongly preferred, but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, intermediate to advanced computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills are required.
- Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally up to 50%.
- Must possess current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Selected candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment background check and drug screen.
