Position Description:
The Project Manager is responsible for the management of development projects at TerraSim. The position applies knowledge, skills and tools to meet project requirements and is involved in the internal product development and external contract management process. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of the assigned project.
The position works with the Product Managers and Development Teams to drive projects on time, within budget, and to the product roadmap. The Project Manager is the primary point of contact to the Product Management team and guides stakeholders through the provision of product vision, clarity and transparency.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Managing project execution with respect to cost, schedule and scope
- Working with teams to develop products to a strategic roadmap
- Supports the Product Manager and Development Leads in managing project changes and interventions to achieve product objectives
- Performing product reviews and facilitating Product Manager input and approvals
- Communicating project status to SVP of Global Programs and relevant groups
- Successfully handling Agile and Waterfall methodologies as the project requires
- Tracking development progress and reporting status
- Identifying and resolving dependencies
- Facilitating identifying and monitoring project risks and mitigation plans
- Creating a post-mortem report when a product is released or a project is completed
- Assisting the Product Manager in conflict mitigation between Development Teams and various company stakeholders
- Responsible for written deliverables in accordance with internal company operating procedures
- Attending Product and Development meetings as required (e.g. kick-off meetings, Agile Development Team Meetings, Sprint Reviews, etc)
- Clarifying technical requirements as required
- Assisting with development scheduling approaches, understanding development processes and managing Product Manager expectations
Education and skills:
Required:
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, or equivalent technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in project management of software development projects
- Strong ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally across all levels of management, and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Exhibits a strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to take direction, be proactive, and have strong problem-solving skills
- Eager to learn
- Customer facing experience
- Ability to execute under accelerated timelines and to quickly adapt to changes
Desired:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience in working in international distributed organization
- Experience with Agile project management process
- Certified Scrum Master or Certified Scrum Product Owner
- Knowledge of TerraSim and BISim Products
- Experience with 3D terrain development for military modeling and simulation
- Experience with geospatial data and analysis (i.e. GIS, remote sensing, photogrammetry, LIDAR, UAV mapping)
- Proficiency in project planning tools (i.e. Microsoft Project)
- Proficiency in agile project management tools (i.e. Jira)
