Reporting to the Head of Digital Initiatives & Information Technology Operations Services (DIITOS), the Project Manager (PM) provides project management for operations, infrastructure and software development related projects. The PM works with stakeholders, often using an agile methodology, to articulate goals, define scope, and prioritize deliverables; collaborates with project teams to develop project plans; monitors progress during project implementation and communicates status with stakeholders, project teams, and Library management.

Digital Initiatives and Information Technology (DIIT) supports library staff and users by providing access to library technologies via the campus network infrastructure backbone. Supported technology resources include the integrated library system and online catalog; network connectivity including servers, storage, operating system and application server delivery; and programming and application development in support of digital and web-based initiatives. Through collaborative efforts with all areas of UCLA's libraries, DIIT assists in the development and delivery of technologies for all types of electronic resources. DIIT is comprised of several teams, including: Software Development & Library Systems, Operations and Services (including Data Center and Network Team, Helpdesk Team and Learning & Research Technology Services), the Digital Library Program, and the Data Science Center. DIIT's approximately 50 staff members also work as collaborative partners with units in other areas of the library and provide technology support for the major business systems used by the libraries.

1. Demonstrated experience managing projects using a formal Project Management methodology.

2. Ability to follow directions from more than one senior stakeholder.

3. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, with a variety of team members and stakeholders, including technical staff, library client stakeholders, library funders, and technical management.

5. Ability to describe alternatives to stakeholders, to explain trade-offs, and to negotiate specific and realistic deliverables, budget, and schedule.

8. Experience with collaboration tools, including wiki software (e.g. Confluence) and task tracking software (e.g. Jira.)

9. Proficiency using productivity tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and electronic calendaring system.

10. Knowledge of agile software development and similar project management methodologies.

11. Demonstrated ability to monitor project progress and identify project plan schedule problems.

12. Demonstrated ability to identify potential risks and develop contingency plans for most likely risks. Experience in Risk Management processes and Risk Matrix spreadsheets.
