SUMMARY:
Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose and numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic prototype parts by evaluating machinability, designs and builds special tooling in order to effectively produce parts to specification and recommending changes to the design engineer and Director, New Product Development by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Safely starts and operates machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Confers with engineers, technicians, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Must maintain a clean and efficient work station while maintaining safety standards and production efficiency levels.
Keep machine tools clean and in good working order.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Should demonstrate a proficiency in the set up and operation of all types of conventional and CNC Mills and Lathes. Experienced in the use of surface grinders, drill presses, tool cutter grinders and saws (Horizontal/Vertical). Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings. Ability to use precision measuring and gauging instruments while performing required inspection on parts being machined or fabricated.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
