We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate who will be responsible for managing both industry- and consumer-facing publicity for all Dark Horse-related projects.

As our Publicity Manager, you will help develop and manage PR campaigns, assist in managing creator relations, represent the company at trade shows and other events, help distribute company news and responses to important events, and more!

This position works closely with the VP of Marketing, the Publicity team, and our Marketing department to integrate press and publicity with overall marketing plans. Your role will provide leadership and structure for the Publicity team to ensure that all Dark Horse projects receive coverage through press, reviews, and other platforms.

You will bring experience for strategizing on and executing PR campaigns, an established network of national broadcast, print and online media contacts, and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You naturally possess strong internal and external communication skills, are adept in time management, and have the ability to work both independently as well as in a collaborative setting.

For this position your primary responsibilities will include:

• Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets, including, but not limited to, magazines, websites and blogs, newspapers, radio and television.
• Together with fellow Publicity staff members, set up coverage for Dark Horse productions with appropriate media outlets.
• Write and distribute press releases and other company announcements.
• Set up interviews with Dark Horse creators and colleagues.
• Media training and prepping authors for media and events.
• Work with the Editorial department to generate and distribute content for use in publicity campaigns.
• Represent the company at public events, conventions, and others as needed.
• Work closely with other Publicity and Marketing staff to integrate publicity plans into larger, overall marketing plans and campaigns.
• Update and maintain an overall publicity strategy for all Dark Horse products, productions, and news, working with the Publicity team to assign and manage schedules to publicize products throughout their entire life cycle.
• Work closely with the Vice President of Marketing to establish overall Publicity strategy, tone, and messaging, as well as helping to manage business or crisis communications.
• Act as a contributory member of the Dark Horse Marketing Department in all department meetings and campaign launches.

This position will be hybrid with onsite office requirements at times, travel and also the ability to work remotely.

Preferred Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in PR, journalism, communications, marketing, or related field
• Minimum 4 years of experience in professional publicity or PR management
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to be proactive and work independently, as well as part of a team
• Strong project management skills, highly organized, and excellent attention to detail
• Demonstrated professional demeanor in work-related settings
• Thrives in high demand environments with great problem-solving skills
• High level of knowledge of Office Suite programs. MAC OS experience a plus
• Familiarity with comics, book publishing, and/or pop culture a plus.
