Mission:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop purchasing strategies and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities by allocating and reviewing tasks as needed.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting, analzing wood and panel commodity prices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers throughout the industry and negotiate long-term supply agreements.
  • Advising company leadership on current cash and futures markets to enable acquisition of products at optimal cost.
  • Provide updates to leadership on key intitiatives, progress, issues, timelines and flag any issues that require intervention.
  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement-related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation and alignment by all departments.
  • Analyze inventory, demand, and consumption for optimal utilization of available product.
  • Maintain data and ERP systems daily for accuracy and completeness.
  • Track and report on department key metrics.
  • Maintain sufficient stock levels of all items for unhindered operations.
  • Partner with operations and accounting to ensure complete and accurate inventory.
  • Partner with finance to assist with execution of the Company’s overall market strategy.
  • Hire, train, and oversee future team members.
  • Attend semi-annual buying shows as needed to support margin goals.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years working as a buyer in the lumber industry, at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of lumber and industry vendors is preferred.
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience with various social media tools including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook is a plus
  • BS/BA degree in Marketing, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
