Adecco is working with a global provider of integrated solutions for lab animal research to find a Purchasing and Planning Associate.

Job Details:
  • This is a direct hire, full time role onsite in Torrington, CT.
  • This role will be responsible for review and planning of production requirements, procurement, scheduling, and management of the flow of materials, BOM maintenance, inventory accuracy, and maintenance of optimum inventory levels.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes MRP and production schedules to ensure both internal and external suppliers meet on time delivery to support customer and inventory requirements
  • Generates RFQs and evaluates quotes to facilitate the procurement of all materials and supplies to fulfill production requirements
  • Prepares necessary purchase orders with all related documentation to ensure required material and services are provided by approved suppliers
  • Coordinated with Assembly Manager to prioritize and expedite necessary components / assemblies for daily production
  • Manages overall inventory to minimize part shortages
  • Develops new and existing vendor capabilities to meet production requirements
  • Works closely with Quality to ensure incoming materials meet requirements for production
  • Manages cycle count efforts
  • Maintains an effective level of inventory for production while keeping inventory levels to a minimum
  • Maintains multi-tiered BOMs
  • Evaluates current processes and offers recommendations for improvement and streamlining on an ongoing basis
  • Develops and keeps good relationships with vendors
  • Assists and mentors staff, providing support when needed
  • Bills vendors for all incoming discrepancies
  • Provides sales and customers service with product ETAs
  • Schedules and plans order for order shortages
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with BOM maintenance, production planning and scheduling, material procurement, and expediting in a fast-paced environment
  • MRP system experience, preferably Microsoft NAV or Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Sufficient in Microsoft Office
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing preferred
