Summary

Root Instance is seeking a strong QA Tester to join our agile development team in building unique features to support our agency customer’s case management system. This candidate should have strong software testing experience and be comfortable in learning an existing product and testing new and existing features per the customer’s requirements. This role will assist with the manual and future automated testing of all aspects of a web application, including system, regression, and end-to-end testing. Position is a full-time position with the ability to telework.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis of user requirements and develops and executes test cases, scripts, plans and procedures (manual and automated) in support of user requirements
• Collaborate with team members on requirements specifications for test plan creation & execution
• Plan, document, review and execute testing using the most appropriate methodology and tools
• Record and report on defects in the appropriate tool
• Manage/communicate test initiative level of efforts, team capacities and progress with project management
• Assist in reviewing and refining existing QA process, controls, and best practices

Required Skills:

• Ability to understand business needs and translate them into test cases and test scenarios
• Expertise in various forms of software testing: functional and non-functional testing – Integration, System, Regression, and End to End testing
• Ability to effectively utilize issue/defect tracking tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps
• Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with remote teams and clients
• Capable of work independently as well as collaboratively
• Must be U.S. Citizen

Additional Preferred Skills

• Experience with automated testing tools, such as Selenium
• Experience in using Swagger and testing RESTful APIs, using tools such as Postman
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Comfortable in constructing sample and complex SQL queries to support database testing
• Agile Methodology experience
• Familiar with Section 508 requirements
• Knowledge of the federal background investigations and personnel security processes

Education/Experience

• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3+ years of testing experience

Access/Clearance

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Moderate, Secret, or higher clearance as needed by the Agency customer

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
