What You Will Do In Your Role
- Develop a thorough understanding of glass manufacturing (float) and fabrication (coating, tempering) fundamentals including potential failure modes.
- Coordinate with the Quality Manager and department managers to investigate and resolve plant and customer quality concerns through containment, remediation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Use data driven decision methods to identify opportunities for process improvements within the plant, and work with department managers and engineers to fully deploy those improvements.
- Support the Quality Manager in meeting quality KPI goals according to the facility’s business plan in coordination with Regional OPEX and to Global Quality initiatives.
- Actively identify and reduce sources of variation in the manufacturing and logistics processes.
- Provide quality performance reports to plant and regional management.
- Advance the Layered Process Audit program through continuous improvement of content while providing direct support to users.
- Develop and share best/proven practices amongst peers in the Region.
- Aid in supporting the plant’s document control system.
- Maintain and socialize a strong customer focus to ensure quick and accurate responses to customer issues.
- Advance the Principle Based Management culture through the Challenge Process, Principled Entrepreneurship™, and Knowledge sharing.
- Must be willing to travel up to 15% within the United States (primarily local customer visits).
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or another STEM discipline, OR in lieu of a degree at least 3+ years of relevant experience in the quality field in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with standard quality tools (8D, DMAIC, FMEA, multiple RCA techniques)
- Experience in measuring and improving processes to meet organization goals
- Experience in team leadership or project management
- Experience in coordinating cross functionally with multiple teams or departments
- Experience in communicating professionally both verbally and in writing
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite to create charts, graphs, and formulas; author policies, procedures, and presentations; communicate via email
What Will Put You Ahead
- Certified Quality Engineer
- Knowledge and experience in statistics
- Practical experience in Six Sigma or Lean
- Knowledge of databases and Power BI
