We are searching for a Quality Technician to join our team and help ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and testing products, analyzing results, and providing feedback to the production team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of quality assurance processes.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production and finished products; recording quality results on designated forms
- Perform inspections according to engineering drawings, inspection plans, source control documentation and specifications using standard measuring tools
- Verify conformance of finished work (in-house and purchased parts) to specifications using standard measuring tools
- Document inspection results by completing forms and computerized database
- Reject unacceptable materials, coordinating with suppliers and engineering as necessary
- Move accepted materials into proper manufacturing process
- Periodically review inspection results and deliver report summary to management
- Manage the equipment calibration list, perform scheduled preventative maintenance and periodic calibration on machine shop equipment lab equipment and measurement tools as directed
- Assist engineers in developing inspection plans
- Manage the Nonconforming Material Process from start to finish, including maintaining the NMR Log
- Assist in updating drawings and documentation per ECO and DCO
- Promote process improvement
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures
- Update job knowledge by participating in education opportunities and reading technical publications
- Assist engineers with and assembly of electro-mechanical enclosures and other accessories as needed
- Update job knowledge by participating in education opportunities and reading technical publications
- Other duties as assigned
Education and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum three years of practical work experience consistent with responsibilities and duties outlined above
Knowledge, skills, and capabilities:
- Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification, other quality certifications a plus
- Understanding of ISO9001 quality management system standard
- Experience in multi-functional and new product teams preferred
- Experience working in manufacturing environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working on cross functional teams.
- Experience working in ISO9001 required, experience working in ISO13485 or other standardized quality management system environments a plus
- Experience working in medical device, technology development or technology manufacturing environments a plus
- Experience transitioning with a growing company from small- to mid-size, including awareness of pitfalls in scalability and new infrastructure implementation.
Physical, Mental and Visual Demands:
- Lifting, carrying, reaching 50 lbs. and less – frequently; over 50 lbs. –seldom
- Sitting, standing, seeing, walking, hearing – frequently
- Typing, keying continually
- Continuous mental and/or visual attention; the work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and continual work using a computer
- Must be able to work on site, arriving to the office no later than 9:00 AM, Monday - Friday
