What does it mean to be a Maintenance Associate at Fisher Barton?

This position works closely with operations and is responsible to keep production machines running, as well as perform upgrades, rebuilds, and repair of existing and new/incoming equipment.

You will do this by:

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, including horizontal and rotary grinders, mills, lathes, heat treat furnaces, and other equipment related to the manufacture of our products
  • Troubleshoot electrical or electronics problems
  • Utilize meters and test equipment, including scopes and analyzers, as required
  • Install/move machines, equipment and required electrical equipment.
  • Install/hook up required electrical equipment utilizing proper wire and conduit sizes.
  • Work off ladders and lifts
  • Read blueprints
  • Rebuild/modify machines and equipment as needed
  • Weld as needed
  • Meet or exceed all production and quality standards
  • Accurately follow work instructions
  • Train new or less experienced associates as requested
  • Provide continuous improvement/cost savings suggestions
  • Follow 6S methodology

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of machine repair, welding/fabrication, and/or electrical experience in manufacturing environment
  • Solid work history or school/academic record


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience troubleshooting and repairing CNC controllers and PLCs; electrical/electronic problems to board level
  • Possess advanced diagnostic and repair skills, understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic skills
  • Read and work from electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, maintenance manuals and parts lists to repair and install equipment
  • Experience driving a sit-down forklift

Additional Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must possess basic math proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals)
  • Ability to accurately read & follow work instructions
  • Possesses basic computer skills (able to accurately enter data into ERP system)
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to work in a team environment (ability to work independently as well as within a team)
  • Willingness to be cross trained on multiple machines/equipment
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements (arrives on time and maintains a good attendance record)
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to learn & read blueprints
  • Ability to learn and use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment

Physical | Visual Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, use hands, climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with arms and hands
  • Ability to see items close and at a distance
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors


Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing: Loud (Examples: metal can, manufacturing department, large earth moving equipment)

Shift Hours: Open to 1st shift or 2nd shift; overtime as required.
1st Shift: Monday – Thursday 6:00a – 3:30p; Friday 6:00a – 10:00a

2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday 3:30p – 1:00a; Friday 1:00p – 5:00p
