Overview:
Position: Receptionist
Department: Corps
Availability of Position: Immediate
Schedule: Part-time Plus, 24 hours per week
Reporting Relationship: Corps commanding Officers
Salary/Grade: $13.50 per hour; Non-Exempt, 73

Position Overview:
Provide customer support for The Salvation Army by handling information requests through phone calls and person to person visits. Screen calls and visitors direct/transfer them appropriately.
Perform clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, and scheduling meetings, make copies as needed etc.

  • Operate multi-line telephone system to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information, taking messages.
  • Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.
  • Transmit information or documents to customers or staff, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to all guest, visitors, callers etc.
  • Hear and resolve complaints from customers or the public referring them to supervisor if the issue requires their input.
  • Provide information about establishment, such as location of departments or offices, employees within the organization, or services provided.
  • Provide referrals to callers or visitors as appropriate and record for statistical purposes as outlined by supervisor.
  • Collect, sort, distribute, or prepare mail, messages, or courier deliveries.
  • As assigned, prepare reports, memos, letters, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, and database.
  • Read and analyze incoming memos, submissions, and reports in order to determine their significance and plan their distribution.
  • Greet visitors and determine whether they should be given access to specific individuals.
  • Prepare responses to correspondence containing routine inquires.
  • As assigned, assist in scheduling client appointments.
  • Help in screening clients for eligibility for our services utilizing the provided Family Services eligibility requirement guidelines.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Must be self-motivated and exhibit strong initiative.
  • Must have good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
  • Must be able to multi-task with ease and confidence in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Should have empathy and a desire to give excellent customer service to all especially, donors and volunteers and clients requesting assistance.
  • Must have an understanding for and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal, Record/Fingerprint Check.
