We are looking for a Recovery Specialist to join our team!

Summary:

Promote meaningful engagement in treatment and long-term recovery by modeling, educating, advocating and encouraging those seeking sobriety while in inpatient treatment. Using ethical and professionally appropriate self-disclosure, develop genuine connections with patients. Provide services that promote health, personal integrity, self-efficacy, and hope. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control and all regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Participate in admissions of new patients along with intake team. Help support patients through intake process, orienting and preparing them for treatment. Establish rapport and educate patients about the role of the CRS team throughout their hospital stay.
  • Assist patients in identifying personal strengths in daily living and recovery skills. Utilize personal recovery experience to teach and role model sustained sobriety, health, and wellness,
  • Work closely with patients to create and implement recovery plans to support their recovery efforts both in treatment and post-discharge. Stay engaged with local community recovery resources to connect patients with as part of their recovery plans,
  • Support patients in building prosocial skills by demonstrating and reinforcing proper conduct and respectful interactions. Observe and reinforce progress that patients make towards recovery goals,
  • Make contact by phone and/or e-mail with patients after they discharge to support their ongoing success and to provide re-engagement support when indicated. Maintain connection with VFMC alumni and provide opportunities for alumni to communicate and participate in events as a community,
  • Provide support and redirection for patients desiring to leave the hospital Against Medical Advice (AMA),
  • Provide behavioral/crisis intervention as needed to support stability of the overall therapeutic milieu.
  • Provide education and support to patients’ family members and loved ones through engagement in family-centered services,
  • Facilitate community meeting, orientation groups, wrap up groups, and other non-clinical groups as assigned,
  • Participate meaningfully in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings, concisely and clearly presenting patient information,
  • Document critical interactions with patients and recovery plans in EMR,
  • Take responsibility for personal and educational growth and development. Comply with all training and education requirements pursuant to this position. Attend internal trainings and meetings as requested.

Personal Qualifications:

  • Tact and sound judgment required in dealing with patients, families, outside agencies and the general public. Interpersonal integrity, and respect.
  • Excellent time management skills, flexibility, dependability, and ability to prioritize demands. Objective, open minded, and creative approach to challenges. Ability to intervene effectively in crisis/critical situations. Ethical and clear conduct.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED) required. Pennsylvania Certified Recovery Specialist, Peer Specialist or Family Recovery Specialist certification preferred. CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
