The primary function of this position is to provide operation and preventative maintenance, repairs, installations and modifications on the facility’s ammonia refrigeration and boiler system and any associated equipment. Assure compliance to all Safety regulations, codes and industry standards. Under general supervision perform tasks that reflect a substantial variety of complexity and specialized technical duties when assigned. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Interact as a team member with your fellow employees and all clients in a professional and manner.


Work Experience

Monitor and operate high pressure steam boiler and ammonia refrigeration system. Maintains and repairs vacuum/gear/ rotor and water pumps. Understand basic principles of refrigeration processes. Read and understand technical literature, drawings, gauges, instruments, etc. Keep accurate log sheets and records. Operates and maintains industrial air compressor which can include disassembly of equipment in order to maintain and repair. Walks plant facility to monitor refrigeration, boiler, air and water systems, document findings, be able react and correct abnormal conditions. Operate and troubleshoot on all refrigeration equipment Participates in the process safety management team. Uses computer to work on multiple applications; including, SAP, Word, Excel, Outlook. Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance, determines nature of problem, and recommends appropriate solution. Other and general facility maintenance duties will be assigned. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all refrigeration equipment. Make operational decisions based on available data. Keep work area clean at all times. Demonstrate good attendance. Required to wear respirators and pass pulmonary function test. Requires daily exposure and handling of steam, biocide agents, phosphates, caustics, acids, degreasers, cleaners, paint, paint thinners, and oils. Participate in Emergency Response training paced work environment. Basic mechanical aptitude in using hand tools. Education/Experience:


  • 4 year Vocational training or 2 years technical degree preferred.
  • 2 years experience as a maintenance technician in the food industry.
  • Strong refrigeration background, ammonia refrigeration experiences a plus.
