Oregon Freeze Dry has a current opening for a Refrigeration Technician for our plant in Henrietta, NY. This position will maintain plant refrigeration systems and other projects in a manner consistent with company objectives.* THIS POSITION IS BASED IN HENRIETTA, NY.*

Compensation: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour (DOE)

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee and manage Refrigeration, Electrical, and HVAC systems including monitoring and trending, troubleshooting and repairs, and conducting preventive maintenance (P.M.’s) within established timelines.
• Follow safe work practices and prioritize safety over production.
• Supports completion of major projects and repairs with engineering and maintenance staff and manufacturing leadership.
• Monitors spare parts stocks and tools to minimize downtime on critical production equipment.
• Provides support and training to mechanics and operators.
• Supports development of validation, maintenance, and instrument calibration procedures to comply with documentation requirements.
• Assists in analyzing refrigeration methods and procedures to make recommendations for improvement and cost effectiveness.
• Actively participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) Program
• Assists in controlling time and materials to meet pre-planned department budget commitments.

Qualifications of this job?

• High school diploma or equivalent plus continuing job-related technical courses.
• Completion of state certified refrigeration training program; journeyman license required. Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) certification is required.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and the OSHA/EPA/IIAR maintenance requirements for ammonia refrigeration equipment.
• Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) Program and documentation.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial maintenance.
• Experience in maintenance shop procedures as well as maintaining and/or repairing ammonia refrigeration, processing and canning/packaging equipment, boilers, and vacuum systems preferred.
• Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently is essential.
