Registered Behavior Technician
Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm
$20/hr with RBT certification
GoodLife’s North Star Academy (NSA) is located in Overland Park, KS and serves young children diagnosed with intellectual or developmental disabilities. In addition to being a fun setting, the academy also serves as a skill-building workshop for its students. GoodLife is committed to building opportunities for individuals with disabilities- teaching new skills and managing challenging behavior is a part of this mission. At NSA, students engage with Registered Behavior Technicians to find a plan to increase skills and reduce challenging behavior. The experience and support of these technicians ensures we are using cutting edge research to provide care and an opportunity to grow.

Some duties include:
- Facilitating safe and fun activities, helping students to maximally engage and appropriately participate in group exercises
- Assisting the students to reduce problem behavior and learn appropriate replacement behaviors by consistently implementing approved behavior intervention plans
- Collecting data on behavior management and skill acquisition programs, summarizing those data, and visually analyzing and reviewing those data regularly with supervisors
Some requirements:
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential required, or willingness to acquire within 6 weeks of employment- North Star Academy will pay the cost of your RBT course + exam!
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Google applications such as Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Sheets
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Ability to recognize natural teaching opportunities and act upon them
- A high-energy level, adaptability, assertiveness, patience and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to perform behavior management and physical support techniques (which include lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, blocking, grabbing, walking, running)
