POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full-time position working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in an idyllic mental health residential setting in Sonoma County. Full-time salary also includes medical benefits, matching 401K, and PTO.
Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, the RN provides nursing services for a residential behavioral health and substance abuse treatment program for adolescents. As a patient advocate, the Nurse will also provide physical and psycho-social assessment upon admission to patients and their families. Experience working with substance abuse, detox, and behavioral health clients preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: administration of medications, medication orders, monitoring vitals, direct communication with clinical team and with the physicians for referrals to other providers and community health resources, health instruction to patients, and instruction and in-servicing to counseling line staff including training on medication dispensing. Documents patient’s current medication list, including name(s) of medications, dosages, frequency, duration and start date. Administers medication and treatment as prescribed by the Medical Director. Assists in the performance appraisals of personnel through documentation and input to the Nursing Director. Assists Director of Nursing to adequately supply routine medical supplies; reorders supplies through established purchasing procedures. Maintains an accurate inventory of medical supplies to ensure services are not compromised due to unforeseen shortages. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Clinical Director, Medical Director, and/or Chief Executive Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication skills at level necessary for taking patients’ medical histories, understanding provider and supervisor instructions, and for accurately documenting patients’ medical information. Ability to effectively communicate with patient population and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact. Intermediate to advanced computing and phone skills. Working knowledge of “Universal Precautions” and demonstrated professionalism at all times. Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment. Possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to the general standards set forth by HIPAA. Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with adolescent mental health and substance abuse populations. Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to work on an as-needed basis in order to meet operational needs of the clinic.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- RN license active
- Desired: 2 years or equivalent experience
- Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data - Professionalism,
- Punctuality, flexibility and reliability are imperative
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
- Action oriented
- Strong problem-solving skills
