Job description

The Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse will provide safe, effective, appropriate and comprehensive infusion services to non-oncology patients. The infusion nurse demonstrates through patient care, both specialized knowledge and experience in infusion therapy. Maintains evidence of training and continued education in infusion specific opportunities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Monitor drug therapy and identify drug related problems such as drug-drug interaction, adverse reactions, and inadequate therapy; takes appropriate steps to resolve drug related problems.
• Coordinates, provides, and ensures a continuum of care .
• Responsible for scheduling infusion therapy patient appointments.
• Responsible for obtaining required documentation supporting medical necessity, physician orders, insurance authorizations, supporting lab results, and patient demographics.
• Processes accurate and appropriate patient charges.
• Educates the patient and family regarding the treatment plan
• Manage vascular access devices
• Utilize sterile technique daily while managing central venous lines
• Attends to any urgent patient care needs
• Assists with inventory management, to include ordering medical and pharmaceutical supplies for patient care.
• Participates in orientation of new staff. Assists and supports new team members as evidenced by observation and feedback.
• Takes on extended job functions and is involved with team member development or program development.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred.

Experience:

• Clinical RN experience, required.
• Infusion RN experience, preferred, but not required.

Licensure:

• Current RN licensure in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Nursing (SCLLR), required.
• American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.
• ACLS, required.

Skills:

• Ability to works with patients, families, physicians and other health care providers with a high level of customer service orientation, required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
