Job description

The Registered Nurse (RN) Quality Specialist under the supervision of the Quality Director and working closely with the Infection Preventionist, works to create an environment of quality health care. The RN Quality Specialist handles quality assurance questions and provides overall support to the Quality Department. Performs chart audits, data collection, and analysis of information to assist with coordinating and implementing best practices to enhance patient care and hospital operations.

The Registered Nurse (RN) Quality Specialist drives clinical and organizational improvements through data and process analysis and dissemination of information/opportunities to key stakeholders. Serves as an internal quality consultant to department leaders and medical staff in the selection, analysis and use of best practices, benchmarking, and outcome measures. Assists the Infection Preventionist serving in an apprentice type role, learning proper technique for and conducting observations, collecting data, and reporting information when necessary to outside entities.

Certification & Licensures

Possess a current licensure and permitted to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state or other clinician with acute care knowledge and experience.

Experience

• 3 years of hospital clinical, technical, and/or operations experience; recent experience in an acute care facility is preferred.
• 3 years of experience performing analyses of quality, performance indicators, and/or hospital operation data, required.
• Experience in the use of clinical pathways/guidelines, and disease management is preferred.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory standards.
