• Become well-versed in our customers' needs, the Job-To-Be-Done, and how our existing products meet those needs
• Become well versed in the processes used to manufacture our key product lines
• Conduct research on a variety of topics that will provide foundational breakthroughs in product and process development
• Communicate and present findings both in written form and orally that are clear, concise and tailored to the target audience
• Become subject matter expert in core technology area platform(s)
• Research micro and macro technology trends that could be relevant to our future growth.
• Drive accountability, consistency, quality, and process standardization across all phases of research and development.
• Develop a resource list of both academic and third-party talent who can help drive research solutions – and create synergistic relationships with those who can help us achieve our goals.
• Attend conferences, trade shows, seminars and classes that expand the reach of knowledge into other areas
• Ensure intellectual property is being protected and monitored
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering
• 2 or more years of research and development experience preferred
• Demonstrated hands-on aptitude (construction and/or mechanical)
• Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office suite
• Six Sigma Black Belt training or exposure
• Applied statistics
• Creative, tenacious and a problem solver
• Self-starter, highly motivated, strong sense of personal accountability
• A commercial perspective that drives projects to successful completion
• Team player
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Coachable
• Ability to stand, see, walk, climb, talk, hear and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
