Overview:
Metabolon, headquartered in Research Triangle Park, NC, is a diagnostic products and services company offering the industry’s leading biochemical profiling platform. We now have an opening for a Research Scientist who will be primarily responsible for lab upkeep and sample preparation and analysis for both RUO and GCP level LC-MS targeted assays for commercial implementation. The position reports to the Associate Director, Clinical and Targeted Analysis.
Responsibilities:
Sample Preparation
- Preparing paperwork (run documents, platemaps, etc)
- Labelling tubes
- Weighing/pipetting various sample matrices
Sample Analysis
- Sample extractions using various techniques
- Instrument operation
- Data processing for sample analysis projects including quality control and necessary documentation
- Perform peer reviews and quality control checks
- Report Writing
Instrument Maintenance and Laboratory Upkeep
- Washing glassware
- Ordering of instrument parts, labware, chemicals and supplies
- LC-MS and GC-MS maintenance including documentation to GCP and ISO9001 level, as required
- Other analytical instrumentation troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration, as required
Project Management
- Plan and perform project tasks within specified timelines
- BS degree in biological science with a minimum of 3 years of relevant post-degree experience preferred
- General laboratory experience (mass spectrometry and familiarity with general concepts, practices and procedures a plus)
- Demonstrated highly developed verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated track record of good decision-making and organizational skills
- This is a fulltime position requiring approximately 40 hours per week of onsite work
