Job description
The Resident Assistant (RA) is a position that actively participates in the development of a comprehensive Residence Life program. The RA will function as a peer resource, mentor, and advisor to student-athletes that reside at the RSL Training Academy. The RA position requires a willingness to be called into service at any time during their shift in order to meet students' needs as they arise.
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE WEEKEND AVAILABILITY FOR CONSIDERATION.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Proactively ensures the safety and security of student-athletes for the RSLTA.
- Maintains awareness of residents' special circumstances (i.e. health concerns, peak stress times, emotional difficulties, academic problems, etc.) and refer or connect individuals to resources, as appropriate.
- Educates residents about Housing policies and procedures, and addresses policy violations, as needed.
- Transports students to local trips.
- Conducts room checks to ensure the cleanliness of students’ rooms and to be visible to the students.
- Conducts nightly room checks at curfew.
- Work office and on-call shifts as scheduled, including weekdays and weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school degree or GED required
- Previous experience working with adolescents is preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and become Safe Sport certified
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be available to work a combination of the following shifts.
Weekend Shifts:
Friday: 5:00 pm-12:00 am
Saturday: 10:00 am-5:00 pm
5:00 pm-12:00 am
Sunday: 10:00 am-5:00 pm
5:00 pm-10:30 pm
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 25 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, etc.
