A global destination for artists and arts enthusiasts, Interlochen Center for the Arts nurtures creativity through five dynamic platforms: Interlochen Arts Camp, the renowned summer arts program; Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premier fine arts boarding high school; Interlochen Presents, a producer of more than 600 annual performances by internationally celebrated guest artists, Interlochen students, and faculty; Interlochen Public Radio, a listener supported, 24-hour public radio station; and Interlochen College of Creative Arts, an convener for lifelong learning in the arts.
The Part-Time Retail Sales Associate is responsible for the daily operations and customer service of the Scholarship, Interlochen’s retail store, on the main campus. The ideal candidate will be able to serve customers, including students and key stakeholders efficiently, by maintaining product knowledge, best store practices and quality customer service.

Essential Duties:

  • Direct customers to their needs effectively
  • Maintain store layout and cleanliness
  • Handle cash, card, and store credit transactions accurately
  • Maintain a positive attitude in serving customers
  • Interact with vendors, students, faculty, and staff on a regular basis
  • Stock merchandise according to set store plans as needed and directed
  • Perform other duties assigned

Required Experience:

  • Knowledge of retail helpful
  • Cash handling cash register experience helpful
  • Able to lift items up to fifty pounds, bend, twist, stoop, crouch, and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required
