As an RF Hardware Electromagnetic Modeling Engineer at Apple, you will contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of next generation wireless radio solutions in all product categories.
Key Qualifications
- Strong fundamental magnetic, electromagnetic and physics background related to near field communications and/or wireless power transfer
- M.S. or PhD in mathematics, electromagnetics, or physics discipline is preferred, not required
- Skilled in the use of CAD simulation tools such as COMSOL, HFSS, CST, and Maxwell
- Skilled in the use of mixed-signal/RF measurement instruments
- Skilled in building and modifying prototype hardware
- Experience building digital models of complex electromagnetic systems
- Coding experience with Python, Matlab or other relevant language in support of modeling & simulation
- Knowledge of NFC communications techniques
- Must be an excellent communicator, both written and oral
- Should be well organized and have the ability to be flexible in a changing work environment
- International travel as needed (10%)
Description
The RFHW Magnetic/Electromagnetic Modeling Engineer will be an integral member of the Hardware Technology team designing future wireless products. The models they create will inform critical design decisions for hardware designers in the same team, as well as provide guidance to other multi-functional teams (such as Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, regulatory, etc). They will use good engineering judgement to build models, run simulations, and measure real-world behaviors of prototype products in a bench/engineering environment. Their knowledge and understanding of material behaviors at RF frequencies (13MHz and up) will be essential in developing models which accurately represent device performance in both prototypes and high volume production. Through an iterative process of measurement and modeling, they will continually improve the modeling capabilities of the team.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $161,000 and $278,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
