The Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents (CCCA) is seeking an experienced RN Supervisor to lead a team of RNs, CNAs, and PCTs in providing age-specific nursing care to child and adolescent psychiatric patients in a safe, therapeutic environment using the least restrictive measures necessary.
Located in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and conveniently located at the crossroads of I 64 and I 81, CCCA is a 48-bed facility and is Virginia’s only public acute care psychiatric hospital for patients 17 and under.
Our mission is to provide high quality acute psychiatric evaluation, crisis stabilization, and intensive short-term treatment that empowers children and their families to make developmentally appropriate choices and that strengthens children’s hope, resilience and self-esteem.
The RN Supervisor works closely with other members of a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide collaborative trauma-informed psychiatric care, prioritizing care according to patient acuity, and managing changes in patient behavior and/or physical condition as part of the treatment team.
The RN Supervisor supervises a team of nurses and PCTs on their assigned shift and oversees the patient care and operations to ensure the highest level of patient care. The RN Supervisor is actively involved in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care from the time of admission through discharge, and offers supervision and support to Nurses and PCTs.
This RN Supervisor position will work primarily 3rd shift, but occasionally may be asked to work daytime or weekend hours to attend nursing management meetings and to ensure proper coverage and communication with all staff they supervise.

Position requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred, and current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The successful candidate must have experience as a supervisor, and must have psychiatric nursing experience. Psychiatric nursing experience working with children and adolescents strongly preferred. Must be skilled in clinical problem solving and patient management, and able to participate effectively in an interdisciplinary team process to treat psychiatric and sometimes aggressive patients.
Must demonstrate strong leadership, supervisory, and managerial abilities with effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to mentor and teach others. Must possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with constant interruption.
Computer skills and experience with electronic health records are required. Bi-lingual abilities a plus; Spanish or Sign Language preferred.
