Job Title: Automotive Mechanic / Handyman
Job Purpose: To perform mechanical repairs. Performs service operations by inspecting, repairing, fabricating, rebuilding, and maintaining the facility, light and heavy duty equipment and vehicles. Ability to perform light and heavy manual labor. Work special hours as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the “Fleet Manager”. Knowledge on Construction, Electrical (12V & 120V) and/or Body Work would be a PLUS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A mechanic may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (The duties listed below do not include all of the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform.)
- Perform minor mechanical repairs on both light and heavy equipment such as trucks, lot equipment and generators in a timely manner
- Maintains and verifies vehicle functional condition by listening to complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components and repairing body damage
- Responsible for pick-ups and/or delivery of vehicles and parts
- Inspect equipment, analyze trouble and plan sequence of repair operations
- Maintain all vehicles, equipment, generator, lot and building needs
- Perform all interior/exterior repairs, generator maintenance and service, and other minor repairs in a timely manner
- Responsible for interior and exterior cleanliness and maintenance of lot and building at all times; these duties will be done when vehicles are not available
- Overall responsible for all vehicles, lot and building
- Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for service calls; schedules will be as vehicles are available
- Complies with state vehicle requirements and maintains all vehicle records by upkeep of maintenance and inspection records kept within an organized filing system
- Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
- Reports any and all damage to the Fleet Manager including any and all findings on inspections
- Follows and adheres to safety rules, regulations and proper use of safety equipment that pertains to each job
Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience, knowledge and skills of the methods, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of various types of equipment and power driven tools
- Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to analyze and repair mechanical failures
- Ability to work effectively and establish good working relationships with other employees
- Ability to work well with the general public
- Possesses a good driving record
Job Type: Full-time
