When you join our team as a Sales & Marketing Trainee, you will be exposed to the various functions and activities relating to the forecasting, sales and logistics of Southern Yellow Pine lumber at Interfor’s modern manufacturing facilities located across Georgia.

What You’ll Do

  • Successful candidates will work within a structured trainee program that will introduce following concepts:
    • Understand the basics of log conversion from log to lumber, including log merchandizing, sawmill production, kiln operations and planer/shipping operations.
    • Learn the respective lumber products, their grades and end uses across local and global markets.
  • Within a defined period, the successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for:
    • Work with existing and potential customers to identify current and new product requirements.
    • Ability to capture market data from a broad geographic section that ensures sales realizations are industry leading.
    • Demonstrate effective sales judgment in the daily trading of lumber with a defined customer base, work within existing credit approvals and controls.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all members of the Sales and Marketing department and senior management and clearly communicate current market trends and competitors’ activities.
    • Maintain the company’s image and reputation in the marketplace at all times through professional communication and presentation.
    • Develop and maintain excellent internal relationships with relevant departments (credit, documentation, accounting & shipping).

What You Offer

  • Post-secondary education is required
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Previous sales/customer service experience is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of North American lumber market considered a strong asset
  • Ability to travel within the state of Georgia with the exception of some customer meetings or trade shows that may be in other states
  • High degree of honesty and integrity in all situations
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency and flexibility to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment
  • Detail and results oriented
