Abode Services:, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a skilled Santa Clara County Community Liaison.

Summary: :
The community liaison is an essential member of a team of housing and service professionals and will be expected to build relationships in Santa Clara County. The community liaison will be expected to engage community partners, create and plan resident and community events, create relationships with neighboring communities, and develop lasting relationships with all stakeholders. Abode Services recognizes that community support is an essential part of successful service delivery and will strengthen the rapport between residents and neighbors. They will assist in upholding Abode’s positive reputation in the community. The successful applicant will have experience in community organizing and/or community development. They will have excellent organizational skills and be comfortable making public presentations. The community liaison must be a self-starter, a problem solver, and passionate about promoting permanent supportive housing.

How You Make an Impact: :

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Planning and hosting all events related to the housing development – this includes community engagement meetings, resident meetings, milestone celebrations and other events related to the neighborhood and resident relationship.
• Increase the health and well-being of the communities by supporting tenants to make positive contributions to their neighborhood, engage in community activities, utilize community resources, and access services.
• Maintain, update, and implement a community integration plan that focuses on the following key strategies:
• Introduce tenants to the neighborhood.
• Build relationships with neighborhood leaders.
• Attend city council and neighborhood association meetings
• Link and connect tenants to resident groups, community events and activities, local services, and volunteer opportunities
• Collaborate with program manager and the community relations department to ensure program and activities are aligned with the mission and vision of Abode Services.
• Represent Abode Services on local community organizations.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders including but not limited to community groups, neighborhood associations, police departments, nonprofit partner agencies, local colleges and universities, and faith-based organizations.

How You Meet the Qualifications::

• Enjoy building relationships and bringing unlikely partners together.
• Recognize the strengths of people who have experienced homelessness and other life challenges.
• Have at least two years of experience in community organizing, affordable housing advocacy and/ or similar experience. Leadership/supervisory experience is sought after.
• Have strong knowledge of community volunteerism.
• Can build long-term relationships with residents, volunteers, staff and neighbors.
• Is competent using Office 365 applications.
• Bilingual skills in Spanish or Chines are sought after.
