The Essex Westford School District has part-time positions available for Crossing Guards to safely cross students before and after school. This position works 2 hours each day, Monday - Friday, on school days. The typical schedule is 7:15am-8:15am and 2:30pm-3:30pm, however, start and stop times may vary slightly based on crossing location. Positions are available beginning immediately as well as beginning in August for the 2022-2023 school year!

Job responsibilities include the following:

• The safety of children is the top priority of a crossing guard

• Help children safely cross the street

• When crossing children, always have both arms extended, use provided stop sign, and wear a safety vest

• If at a stop light, cross according to the signal

• Do not direct traffic other than stopping vehicles for crossing

• Promptly report all vehicle operators driving in an unsafe manner to the appropriate school safety personnel

• Do not attempt to discipline children

• Promptly report all problems or concerns to the appropriate individual
